Responsible gambling: limits, breaks and where to get help
18+ · Stake only what you can afford to lose
A ranking makes choosing a sportsbook quicker. It should not make betting quicker. Decide what you can afford before you open any of the boards.
Your limitset it first
A deposit limit set before the first bet is the one that holds.

Tools to switch on before the first deposit
Look for these in the account or responsible gambling section of any sportsbook:
- Deposit limits. A daily, weekly or monthly cap on what you can add. Lowering one usually works at once; raising one usually waits.
- Loss and stake limits. A cap on what you can lose or wager over a period.
- Reality checks. A reminder after a set time on the site.
- Time-out. A break of a day to several weeks during which the account cannot be used.
- Self-exclusion. A longer block, often six months or more, that should not be lifted early on request.
An operator that offers none of these is telling you how it sees its customers.
Habits that help
- Set the amount before you open the cashier, and treat it as money already spent.
- Keep betting funds apart from savings, in a wallet you use for nothing else.
- Use a ranking once, not every day. Pick a sportsbook, set your limits there, and close the board. Comparing sites every evening is often a sign that betting is taking up more time than it should.
- Never chase a loss. The next bet does not owe you anything.
- Never borrow to bet, and never bet with money meant for something else.
Warning signs
Betting more than you meant to, betting to win back losses, hiding how much you bet, feeling restless when you cannot bet, or borrowing for it are all signs to stop and talk to someone. Confidential help is available.

Blocking betting sites on your own devices
Gambling-blocking apps and the content filters built into phones and routers can block betting sites on your own devices. They work best alongside self-exclusion at the sportsbook, not instead of it.
The best crypto betting sites will still be here when betting is something you choose, not something you need.
